"The Lakers can also offer a more lucrative deal to Odom than Miami is able to, regardless of any tax breaks Florida affords him. I still see this as happening, with Odom using the Miami negotiations as a bargaining tool." (Odom: no news is good news and some news doesn't matter, July 28)
No inside source, nothing more than a bit of common sense. And maybe quite a bit of bias faith in LA's front office in their ability to keep the team together. The deal is purportedly worth $33 million. $25 million for the first 3 years, and a further $8 million if LA pick up a team option for a fourth year. If they don't, they owe Odom a $2 million buy-out.
This is good news for LA, bad news for the rest of the Association.
Looking forward to it.
