One of the last things to do for this year collaboration-wise, the MVP/RoY voting.
MVP
1. Kobe Bryant (last week #1)- Focus. Effort. Application. No-one beats Kobe Bean Bryant for these. And he has LA at the very pinnacle of the NBA at the moment.
2. LeBron James (2) - Atlas. A mere hair behind Kobe, and truth be told, LBJ has to do more than Kobe, as he has a lesser roster.
3. Dirk Nowitzki (5) - In the glare of the spotlight on both Kobe and LeBron, it's tough to see that Dirk's putting up MVP numbers himself, and Dallas are one of the only teams that looks like challenging the Lakers for the West. Thank Dirk for that too.
4. Steve Nash(4) - Nash continues to put up some ridulous numbers, and he's one helluva guy... but I can't help but think that at least part of it is because they're running "Almost Seven Seconds or Less Equivalent" (or "A.S.S.O.L.E.").
5. Carmelo Anthony(2) - Carmelo Anthony reaped the rewards (vote-wise) when the Nuggets were doing very well. He must also be held accountable - at least to a degree - when they're in a slump. 6 losses through December doesn't help them join the elite of the NBA.
6. Dwight Howard(8) - As Dwight always does, quietly dominating. If he could hit his FTs, he'd be higher still.
7. Joe Johnson(6) - Johnson's leading a very evenly balanced Hawks squad who are achieving a pretty nice season. Johnson's not top shelf, but he's only just below.
8. Deron Williams(new) - I still maintain that Deron Williams is a better point guard than Chris Paul. He's tougher, and if you want to look at a PG who truly makes his team better, look no further.
9. Chris Bosh(9) - Bear witness: Chris Bosh's farewell tour.
10. Kevin Durant(9) - Ignore all the minutiae of the statistical analytics, one only has to watch this team to know that he's a very large part of why the Thunder actually look like a decent-to-good team.
Other mention: Chris Paul misses out on inclusion because with him, his team seems to be doing worse with him than when they were sans CP3.
RoY
1. Tyreke Evans(2) - Doesn't seem long ago that everyone had basically closed up shop and awarded this to Brandon Jennings (except... I had Evans at #1). Not so fast, Sacramento's looking sharp. Place that on Tyreke Evans. 2. Brandon Jennings(1) - Still an amazing talent, and with Jennings and Bogut at the helm, Milwaukee will be looking to compete at the higher levels over the next few seasons. That is, on the assumption that they get some help. 3. Stephen Curry(4) - Imagine what he'd be like if he didn't play on a team comprised entirely of shooting guards!!! 4. Omri Casspi(new) - Casspi's shooting 3s at a very handy 44+%. Across the board, his production's increasing. Sacramento's future's looking better than it even was at the beginning of the season. 5. Jonas Jerebko(new) - I really like what this guy's doing... and whilst he possibly doesn't deserve a mention on this list, giving him some kudos anyway.
