Firstly that was the worst Dunk Contest ever - they've should have given the award to LeBron for his 2 dunks in the actual ASG or to the guy who won the D-League dunk contest. Or simply not awarded a winner at all.
Shannon Brown - I'm officially no longer a fan.
But the dealine is approaching and I think things will get a little crazy. There are several teams that are either on the fringe of top tier, or top tier already that are looking to put thenselves over the top and "into the finals".
All chokes, I mean jokes, aside here are the moves I think will go down...
Tyrus Thomas to Denver
Not sure how this will happen but I think Thomas won't be packaged with Hinrich in this instance - just TT going to the mile high city.
Why?
Well I think Denver believe they were a big man away from beating LA last year, and I personally agree. They've also got an interesting conundurm with their bigs again this year - K-Mart is playing out of his mind = good. Nene is playing consistently = good.
But Andersen has been the big disappointment, with his amount of hair product inversely proportional to his play.
In short - if Nene or K-Mart get hurt Denver are no longer contenders and they know it.
Enter TT. He plays like K-Mart and is aggressive on defense which they need. He's also capable of slotting into the starting lineup when the oldies need a rest - a luxury Coach Karl hasn't had in past years. With TT they'll finish second in the West and should cruise to the Conference Finals again where they'll meet destiny.
Tracy McGrady to New York
Not sure if we've all forgotten but T-Mac is healthy. Sure he'll get back spasms from time to time, but he's healthy and when healthy he's a genuine threat. Put him in an up-tempo offense and he'll wreak havoc. Put him in a Mike D'Antoni offense and he'll wreak extra havoc.
Also worth considering is that NYK are looking like a possibility of visiting the playoffs. Sure, a distant possibility... but a possibility none-the-less.
The addition of T-Mac may mean they have some ability to shock a 1/2 seed (even if McGrady has a history of choking on the big stage).
Who will Houtson get? Who cares - Houston have to realise that something is better than nothing and Harrington/Hughes/Hill/Jeffries can all be useful. Bosh isn't going to Houston - he's staying in Toronto or going to Miami/NYC so they may as well forget the Fa market and work on getting some bang for T-Mac buck.
Antawn Jamison to Cleveland
Sorry Cavs fans but you're not getting Amare and quite frankly, why would you want too??? Amare is the antithesis of everything Cleveland is about - Jamison isn't. Jamison spreads the D, shoots the 3, and rebounds the ball. 3 things Amare doesn't do.
And Cleveland NEED the lane open for LeBron to wreak his havoc - Shaq AND Amare in there would just be silly, not too mention that the Shaq + Amare tandem has failed in the past. Washington then become a major player in the 2010 market which is what they wanted to do. And in the mean time, their youngsters get to show their skills - nothing like minutes to develop players faster, especially the bigs.
Kevin Martin to Boston
This is my "out on a limb" call. I think Ainge will move Ray Ray sadly, and K-Mart is the obvious choice. He's an upgrade on Shuttlesworth, a pseudo-clone (even though his technique is awful), and will make the open shot which has eluded the ol' Ray gun this year.
Boston however, will probably have to take Kenny Thomas in the deal. And this = MASSIVE TAX ISSUES ALERT! MASSIVE TAX ISSUES ALERT! MASSIVE TAX ISSUES ALERT! MASSIVE TAX ISSUES ALERT! for next year.
Sactown on the other hand will be happy developing the Evans led Kings and look toward free-agency the following year. It's also possible that Sergio Rodriguez will go in this deal too as Boston are also after a backup for Rondo.
Everything else is smoke and mirrors for mine - Indiana will wait on Murphy most likely as they already have too many black players in hick-ville to handle at present. Unless they get a deal where they can move on Ford as well I think Larry Bird-ville waits until the summer. So does Miami... unless Phoenix bites - although I don't think anyone believes Amare will be that good out of Phoenix after seeing the demise of Marion. There is a possible Philly-Miami deal here which shouldn't be discounted, but Philly appear to have no interest in Beasley.
UPDATE! The LA Clippers send Marcus Camby to Portland for Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw.
